LASER CUTTING

Laser cutting uses a high powered laser to cut through material. A series of mirrors and lenses direct and focus a high-energy beam of light onto the surface of the sheet where it is to be cut. When the beam strikes the surface, the energy of the beam melts or burns material underneath. The position of the laser beam relative to the sheet is precisely controlled to allow the laser to follow the desired cutting path.

On plasma cutting machines, rigidity of construction is not a priority, because there are no cutting forces. The machine should be capable of dealing with kinematic forces during the acceleration and deceleration of laser cutter.

To produce good quality cuts, timings for laser operation must be precise, otherwise burn marks are visible. CNC USB controller handles timings for all outputs very precise.

Planet CNC USB software supports DXF file import, that means G code for cutting does not need to be generated in third-party software.

How to setup CNC machine using PlanetCNC software and controller?

I will try to show you how to setup your CNC using PlanetCNC software. I will use my router machine as an example but you can do it similar way on all machine types. I use metric (millimeter) units but everything is same with imperial (inches) units except numbers are different (1mm is apporximately 0.03937in). […]
